I had just finished up with one of the Kids' baseball picture appointments, and I spotted a garage sale out of the corner of my eye. The same family had a garage sale a month back, and I saw some furniture but didn't have time to stop. This time I had a few minutes. And my love seat was there waiting for me. I really don't need another project. But I had been thinking for a while that a love seat would be perfect in my living room. The price was right. I was still unsure. I was going to walk away and think about it. Then the man said "the cushion is down-filled", and that was all she wrote folks. Sold! I'm thinking about a little bit of gold paint, white paint, stain on the legs, and a slipcover on the top. I will have to visit this talented lady again and take some notes.
Wow, that is a great loveseat! I know you will do a great job with it.
ReplyDeleteI have been looking for a site with some good slipcover tips! Our dogs have destroyed our family room furniture and slipcovering them is my plan. No sense on replacing when the only thing that's wrong the dogs will ruin once again. DH won't dream of banning them from the family room furniture like we have from the living room.
Oh no, they are not chewers! Thank goodness! One is just VERY hyper and has jumped up (or down) quickly and his nails have torn the fabric. Right now it is covered with folded quilts, but I want something that doesn't look like we are trying to cover doggy damage.
ReplyDeleteThanks for posting that incredible slipcover link. That was how I thought I would do it, but seeing it in print and that it works really helps!
That love seat has a great shape! I've seen ones with slipcovers that tie at the sides and they look fabulous.

What a treasure! How did you get it home? It really is a nice piece -- can't wait to see what you do with it! Your blog inspires me to spruce up my home - but you know how to inspire without the guilt, somehow, you just know how to do it in a simple, inspiring, fun way! So, thanks!
ReplyDeleteOooohhh!
ReplyDeleteMy heart is going pitter-pat, Miss Heather J.! THAT, my friend is a fun little love seat! I can just imagine a yummy slouchy slipcover on it and some beautiful throw pillows!
Thanks for the wallpaper tip! I think I will go with the DIF (I've tried it before on some borders the previous owner of my house had and I had a lot of problems, but I think the borders were not good quality and that she didn't use sizing before hanging them.)
Thanks for the tip! After I get the wallpaper off, we'll see if Elizabeth Hill Cottage will be a "no wallpaper zone" as well :)
