and I took it home, and painted it, and loved it, and it loved me?
Well it was feeling worn out and tired again, and needed to be freshened up a bit. I repurposed it to be a computer desk for the black computer that the kids use. So before I put the computer on it, I took it outside and spray painted it. On a whim, really. Sometimes I just decide to paint something, and I go shopping for paint in my basement, and within minutes the deed is done. Sometimes I'm too lazy and impatient to use gloves, and this time the spray paint can had something wrong with it so I ended up with black paint all over my hand and arm. But it was worth it.
I found the gingham chair pad at Walmart just an hour before. I feel so much better now. I am the kind of person that needs to rearrange things, and change colors once in a while. When I was a kid, I remember changing the furniture placement in my room when I got bored with it.
And here's a picture of my new haircut ...

Oh my goodness, you hair is BEAUTIFUL!!! You have such a pretty neck to show it off too...and the desk looks wonderful ~ black is a classic, I love the transformation! xxoo, Dawn
ReplyDeleteI am sooooo in love with that desk! The gingham chair cover makes it oh so complete!! I am so envious! The haircut (from the back anyway :-) is one of the cutest I have ever seen. I'm sure you're used to long hair, but I just lu-huve it!!
ReplyDeleteHey Heather, Love the desk and chair. Haircut, too. Have a good weekend. Can't remember my password ( surprise, surprise)so I'll have to be anonymous. Miss you. Laura
ReplyDeleteOh, I love that painted desk, looks great! And what a sassy haircut too. Cute!

Your hair looks GORGEOUS and so does the desk! I always wish I could wear short hair but the one time I cropped it, I hated it! Now my hair is long, but layered, and so weather-dependent...No humidity, it looks great...With humidity? It's just a scary thing.
ReplyDeleteBut yours looks GREAT! Enjoy the rest of your summer :-)
Love the desk and haircut! Thought I was the only one who rearranged furniture when they were a kid! I would even rearrange the living room in the middle of night when I couldn't sleep - drove my mom crazy! But it always looked better :)
ReplyDeletejust checking in......love the desk both ways. Love the new cord cover and I too need to get that book by Stacy. Love the hair!

Love the new look of the desk -- the black goes much better with the black computer! :D
ReplyDeleteI remember rearranging my room sometimes as often as once a week when I was a kid. Now, my daughter does the same thing. It drives my husband crazy!

ReplyDeleteI love the desk rehab it looks absolutely wonderful. I wish I had a house and could do all those fu things but I dont think the coop would enjoy me spray painting on the grass out front. Your haircut is awesome too. I too just went for the plunge and cut my hair short but it needs a shape up and your hair is the exact picture I have been looking to show my stylist. Thanks for showing it off.

I just found your blog, and absolutely love your ideas! May I ask for some details on how you spray-painted the lovely desk? Must you prime first? And would you share exactly what kind of paint you used? I have a 1950's telephone table and chair, and would love to spruce them up with a coat of black. I would appreciate any info! Darling haircut, too, by the way.

ReplyDeleteDadgum! An adorable desk AND good hair? Woman! You are too, too blessed!
ReplyDeleteI just got a desk from a craigslister for $25. It is some kind of "brown wood"...but I see black in its near future. Can I really use spray paint? What is your suggestion on finish? Lovee yours!
ReplyDeleteI am new to your blog and to blogging. I am glad to have found you and esp. enjoyed your favorite post. I think I'll hang the chair pic in my kitchen, too.
