Have the kids do it.
Just kidding.
That isn't faster or easier.
Keep a bunch of new bags in the bottom of the trash can.
You don't have to dig a new one out of the cupboard every time you take out the trash. It's just a little bit of time and effort you're saving, but it's nice. Trust me.
You guys probably already do this because you're smart. I'm sure I'm the last one who has figured it out. We were visiting at some friends' house and I saw my buddy reach into her big, tall trash can and come out with a clean bag. Hmmmmm.

Great tip! I do this to all my garbage cans. I actually don't do it to the kitchen cans only b/c I'm afraid of a leak and that would ruin the bags that are clean. But it's great in the bathrooms!
ReplyDeleteLOL!!! Make your kids do it...ha! You're right, that WOULDN'T be faster! : )
ReplyDeleteGreat tip, though!

Great tip! and yes, I do it :-) I picked it up when I was working, that's what the maitenance people did with all our cubicle cans.
ReplyDeleteHey, isn't that clever? I'll take any time-saving tips I can get these days! Thanks. :-)
ReplyDeleteP.S. Love the quote at the top of your blog.
Just made my first visit to your blog and really enjoyed it. I was checking some old posts when I came across the photo of stacked dirty dishes. You are going straight to my favorites list! You could take some photos at my house and make it into a coffe table book! Seriously, it was pretty in a very artsy way. Thanks for going where most of us wouldn't. What fun. And your husband is a gem for realizing creativity is sometimes more important than housework.

I'm too scared to do that...sometimes mysterious stuff appears OUTSIDE the bag in the trash can, and NO ONE knows how it gets there.
ReplyDeleteSo I do the next best thing...I have my Kiddo take out the trash. : )
I keep the box of bags next to the can, and I have my 5yo take out the trash. He loves it because it's the job that daddy also does, so it makes him feel grown up doing it. He also takes the cans to the curb on trash days.
ReplyDeleteGreat tip. They did this in the building I worked in before children and I always thought it was a cool idea. I'll have to try it out.
ReplyDeleteI also love your free furniture piece below. Free is def. a thifty find!!
you are right this is such a great idea. I learned this while working in a nursing home. another idea is if you have the trashbags that slide off easily tie a little knot in the top before sliding down over the top of the can this will not be too tight on the can but give it enough support to keep it on the can
ReplyDeleteMy problem is that I always forget to leave bags at the bottom LOL.
ReplyDeleteAll the best,
Allison
I'm going to start doing this TODAY! Thanks.
ReplyDeletevery clever, never thought about that before.
