The kids and I just got back from our trip to San Diego.
We had a blast.
Especially here.
And when I got back, I finally discovered Bloglines. Yes, I'm that slow. It's amazing I even know what a blog is. But Annie left a sweet comment that she was subscribing to my blog (thanks girlfriend). What? Subscribing? I had to Google that, and I found Bloglines. Seriously, I'm such a dork. You all have probably been using Bloglines since day one. But I'm with the program now. No more checking each blog one at a time to see if it is updated. Bloglines tells me what's new. What other wonderful things am I missing?

"The LORD is my shepherd, I shall not be in want.
He makes me lie down in green pastures,
he leads me beside quiet waters,
He makes me lie down in green pastures,

he restores my soul.
He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name's sake.
Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
I will fear no evil, for you are with me;
your rod and your staff, they comfort me.
You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies.
You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows.
Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life,
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD forever."

This One's For You, Kathy
I recently read a wonderful post at Kathy's Cottage about how some of us hide a little in our blog pictures, and we feel discomfort showing everyone what we really look like because we are so hard on ourselves. Oh yeah, called me out.
A lot of us are the family photographers, too. Aaaaaaaand usually the one person missing from the family scrapbooks. As Kathy puts it, our children appear to have grown up motherless. Guilty again.
So Kathy posted the most adorable picture of herself having a morning cup of coffee, just as if we were sitting at her table hanging out with her. I thought I would do the same. But I would have to take the picture on a day when I had my hair done and makeup on, and some cute pose. Wooooooooops. Not really in the spirit of Kathy's post, now is it? So I remembered that last year when we went to visit my dear mother in law for her birthday (on the 4th of July ~ isn't that cool!), I was sitting on the couch with the kids snapping off pictures of us goofing off like we were in one of those photo booths (I even had the pictures printed extra small so they would have that look in the scrapbook).
I think this is what I would love my kids to see most of all when they open our family photo books. I will have to do a photo booth session with them every year.

"The Lord is good to those who depend on him, to those who search for him. So it is good to wait quietly for salvation from the Lord. And it is good for people to submit at an early age to the yoke of his discipline." Lamentations 3:25-27
"Be still in the presence of the Lord, and wait patiently for him to act." Psalms 37:7

Self Portrait Challenge

Ok, I got a lot of work done yesterday, but I did goof around with the camera a little bit too. It took me about 65 shots to get my self-portrait because I am not a talented photographer. The one I chose was like the next-to-last pic too. It is funny how it looks like I am smelling the flowers, because in reality I wasn't as close to them as I look and I was moving my head around while the camera shot so I would look blurry while the flowers were the focused subject. Only took about 15 minutes too. Sooooo, I'm not sure if anyone actually reads this blog (except loyal reader Martha), but I will challenge you to take a creative self-portrait of yourself. Even if you aren't a blogger, it would make a great photo for a journal or scrapbook about yourself. Give it a try. Post a link to your blog so we can see.
As for me, today I am painting the dining room and the desk. Yesterday I taped off all the molding and baseboards in the living room. My honey is going to paint the woodwork today. The transformation is almost complete, but I don't want to show you until it is done.
I'm a little overwhelmed about paint colors for the desk. I am not good at picking out colors AT ALL. I went in to the store today to get a green and cream to paint the little desk, and there were so many choices that I couldn't pick anything. Does anyone have an regular paint they use for this? I need a little help. Thanks!
Hasta luego!
