Please tell me what you think about . . .

this:

I have 2 upstairs bathrooms with tile issues. When I moved into my house, it was 2 years old and the tile was already cracking.

It is much worse now, and I believe it to be a subfloor issue. Of course, my self-described "luxury" home builder denies that they put in a bad subfloor. But the bottom line for me is, I need a new floor because any water that spills out of the bath leaks down into the ceiling of the room below. I think the cheap, quick temporary answer to my problems (at least in the kids' bathroom) is vinyl tiles. This one caught my eye as I was speeding through Home Depot the other day. It is tan and blue, actually very pretty and to me it doesn't look vinyl. Another issue . . . do you see all that grout on the current floor. Yep, that is a *real* pain in the butt to clean. I'm thinking the vinyl tiles will be much easier. At $0.99 per tile, I think it is a good plan. What do you think? Does it look like cheap vinyl, or just a little better?

**On a side note, Blogger has been driving me absolutely nuts this week. It is having issues with uploading photos, which stretches something that should take 5 minutes into 30 minutes. I have been seriously considering whether to continue blogging lately because it wastes time I should be spending on family/home, so this extra waste of time is absolutely frustrating to me!!!! Does anyone else have a free web hosting service that they like?

In regards to the tile I think that it will be a least expensive short term soultion.

I'm just not sure if the vinyl tile will prevent the water from leaking downstairs.

I do like the style of tile and have been considering the same Home Depot vinyl style for my kitchen and the slate style in the same pattern for my dining room.

On another note, I sometimes have the same picture uploading problem with blogger. What I ofetn have to do is compress the picture in my Microsoft picture editor to web page size. After that it uploads just fine.

If this doesn't fix the problem I would contact blogger or switch to another blog server. I definately understand how blogging can become a time waster when things take to long to donwload.

I like the tile! It doesn't look el cheapo like many of them do.

Yes, I would make the image you are uploading smaller. That is what is taking so much time. I resize my images to 400 X 600 pixels max. Most of the time they load pretty quickly.

Don't stop blogging your furniture makeovers are inspiring!

it does not look like cheap vinyl. I thought it was tile. Looks good.
And I never have issues with blogger when downloading photos.......until today!

How DO you clean the grout in tile anyhow? I've been trying to figure that one out forever....

The photos make it look like a "real" tile, can't tell at all. Sometimes it's what weighs more--practicality or esthetics. In your kid's bathroom, maybe practical is the way to go?

As far as image uploading...DON'T use blogger, it's awful! Create a free photobucket.com account--you can upload vids and photos there and then they give you a very simple code to paste into your post. It's so easy and fast!!!

I was very surprised when you said that the tiles were vinyl! They look great.

Girlfriend:

Love the tiles. I had no idea they were vinyl! Good job!

I have no advice on the blogger stuff. Except that I initially typed "blooger". Which is about right, isn't it? I have issues, too. But whatever your issues are, DON'T STOP BLOGGING!!!! Your blog makes my day :)

Hello there! I just stumbled onto your blog and had to post about the tile. We installed these "cheap" tiles in our kitchen because I couldn't make a decision on what I wanted in there -- over 2 years ago and they look perfect! The key is making sure the surface you stick them to is perfectly clean and dry. You'll be amazed at the results!
